Senior Citizens

The City of Westwego’s Ernest J. Tassin Senior Citizen Center provides a full program of recreation and nutrition for the city’s senior population. The many activities and programs coordinated by Nedra Cassard include bingo, bean bag baseball, darts, Pedro and other card games, exercise classes, fun with the Wii, and monthly parties at the center. For full details and more information, contact Nedra at 504-341-2957.
The city also provides free transportation for seniors for their doctor appointments. To schedule transportation, contact Allison Romero at 504-328-3664, at least three (3) days prior to your appointment.
The center also participates in the Jefferson Council on Aging’s nutrition program. This program offers hot lunches at the center or delivered to the home for a minimal cost. You must be interviewed first by JCOA before you can receive meals. Contact the center at 504-348-9555 for more information.
