Historic Sala Avenue

Take a walk through Westwego's Historic District and you will find many treasures! Sala Avenue is four blocks long and includes a museum, a theater, an art gallery and a Farmers Market for your pleasure.

Theater of Performing Arts

The 250 seat theater which includes an orchestra pit is managed by Dennis Asaf and the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. At the front of the theater is Teatro Wego. This venue has a small stage which is ideal for small performances, dinner theater, and special events. For more information, contact Michelle at 504-371-3330 or www.jpas.org.



Westwego Historical Museum

The Westwego Historical Museum is located in the century-old Fisherman's Exchange Building (Durac Terrebonne/L.J. Bernard Hardware Store) and features an old time hardware store (early 1900s), completely furnished upstairs living quarters with antique furniture. We also have an outhouse and wooden cistern.
Hours: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mondays - Saturdays, except Wednesday
Group tours are available by appointments only(504-341-3161). Fee charged.

Westwego Art Center

The Westwego Art Center is managed by the Westbank Art Guild. The WAC is open each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM. Come visit with us, browse the gallery, and buy a painting!! For more information go to www.wbag.tripod.com.
